Theorycrafting the best mix of CHC and CHD for AR’s

Warning: Large number of tables incoming…

I thought I’d do a post to show how to get the best damage out of your AR by optimising the use of CHC and CHD. I’ll discuss the optimal use of weapon mods, how best to roll your gloves, and where best to have CHC on your gear. I’ll also discuss how to get the best from your AR if you run the Precision talent. Finally I’ll discuss how to get the most damage from your AR when running in a team with a strong pulse.

x Option 1 Option 2
AR CHC CHD CHC CHD
Gloves 6% 17% 6% 17%
Scope 7.5% 4.0% 3.0% 19.0%
Mag 3% 3%
Grip 19% 19%
Muzzle 3% 19% 3% 19%
Native 25% 25%
Total 19.50% 84.00% 15.00% 99.00%
Damage inc 16.38% 14.85%

The above table shows how different weapon mods affect your damage. This is the base case with CHC and CHD on your gloves. Option 1 at 16.38% give the best damage gain.

Let’s move on to adding CHC on our holster.

x Option 1 Option 2
AR CHC CHD CHC CHD
Gloves 6% 17% 6% 17%
Holster 4% 4%
Scope 7.5% 4.0% 3.0% 19.0%
Mag 3% 3%
Grip 19% 19%
Muzzle 3% 19% 3% 19%
Native 25% 25%
Total 23.50% 84.00% 19.00% 99.00%
Damage 19.74% 18.81%

Here we can see that option 1 is the best, with CHC major / CHD minor scope. Average damage increase is 19.74%.

Next we look at what we should do if we can only roll either CHC or CHD on our gloves.

x Option 1 Option 2 Option 3 Option 4
AR CHC CHD CHC CHD CHC CHD CHC CHD
Gloves 6% 17% 6% 17%
Holster 4% 4% 4% 4%
Scope 7.5% 4.0% 7.5% 4.0% 3.0% 19.0% 3.0% 19.0%
Mag 3% 3% 3% 3%
Grip 19% 19% 19% 19%
Muzzle 3% 19% 3% 19% 3.0% 19% 3.0% 19%
Native 25% 25% 25% 25%
Total 23.50% 67.00% 17.50% 84.00% 19.00% 82.00% 13.00% 99.00%
Damage 15.75% 14.70% 15.58% 12.87%

The answer from the table data is that CHC provides the best average damage increase when combined with a CHC major / CHD minor scope.

Continuing with the gloves, should we roll Enemy Armor Damage (EAD) in favor of CHC or CHD? The obvious answer for PvP is no, you keep CHC and CHD. But what about PVE?

We already know that running a CHC major / CHD minor scope gives us the best average damage increase, so we look at swapping the CHC and CHD on our gloves for EAD. The build I am using is the 23.5% CHC and 84% CHD one. I make 2 assumptions: 1) Enemy armor is 65% of total health for a npc and 2) you are already running destructive on your weapon and 8% EAD on your mask for a total of 23%. We dont need a table for this, so the numbers are:

CHC or EAD on gloves: CHC adds 0.8% more average damage than EAD

CHD or EAD on gloves: CHD adds 0.25% LESS average damage than EAD

Now let’s have a look at including the Precision talent (headshot an enemy and you pulse them for 10 secs with 12.5% CHC and 25% CHD)

x Option 1 Option 2
AR CHC CHD CHC CHD
Gloves 6% 17% 6% 17%
Precision 12.5% 25% 12.5% 25%
Holster 4% 4%
Scope 7.5% 4.0% 3.0% 19.0%
Mag 3% 3%
Grip 19% 19%
Muzzle 3% 19% 3% 19%
Native 25% 25%
Total 36.00% 109.00% 31.50% 124.00%
Damage 39.24% 39.06%

Here the numbers start to get very close, with option 1 adding 39.24% and option 2 39.06%. If you do PvP, you will want to run with CHC on your mask and running precision will allow you to pulse players even if they run conceal.

Which brings us on to how a strong team pulse impacts your optimal AR build.

x Option 1 Option 2
AR CHC CHD CHC CHD
Gloves 6% 17% 6% 17%
Team pulse 35.0% 50% 35.0% 50%
Holster 4% 4%
Scope 7.5% 4.0% 3.0% 19.0%
Mag 3% 3%
Grip 19% 19%
Muzzle 3% 19% 3% 19%
Native 25% 25%
Total 58.50% 134.00% 54.00% 149.00%
Damage 78.39% 80.46%

Option 2 provides the best average damage increase at 80.46%. This build would be further strengthened by adding CHC on your mask to take you to 58% CHC. This build would then add 86.4%, with a 6% increase over not having the mask. This is superior to running EAD.

Although I havent included a table with CHC versus EAD on your mask, CHC is the best option for PvP. EAD on your mask is the best option for all other builds, bar running precision, where it equals CHC and bar running with a strong team pulse. Many players will forgo some damage output in favor of extra stability mod(s) as missed shots do zero damage.
